1968 - London Housewife Ordained A Buddhist: A 30-year old London housewife, Mrs. Sara VBoin, was ordained a Buddhist yesterday. The ceremony was performed by the Venerable Sthavira Sanghrsrakshita, head of Britain's Buddhist. Mrs. Boin, of Coptic Street, Bloomsbury, is believed to be the first British Woman ordained into Western Buddhism. With her yesterday were her husband, Emile, . a French born businessman and ten other Britons. The 12 ordained will continue their every day lives and will be known as lay members.
