Feb. 16, 1965 - The Missionary In The White Socks - And Mod Clothes. Pursuades The Teenager - To Go To Church: Twenty six year old Miss Sylvia Smith of working, Surrey - is the first woman evangelist of the Evangelisation Society - which concentrates on home missionary work. She does her job - wearing a mixture of mod and rocker clothes. She started off her business life as a shorthand typist - and went to a secondary modern school. She travels the country - is away from home nine months of the year visiting coffee bars - dance halls etc. trying to pursuade the youngsters to go to church. On one coffee bar stint Miss Smith pursuaded 25 to go to church - but when she got up to preach, they all cheered. The rest as possible.
