Aug. 08, 1970 - Freed Bishop Meets the Pope: Bishop Walsh of America, arrived in Rome on Monday to meet the Pope after twelve years as a prisoner of China for alleged spying. He flew from Hongkong where he has been convalescing in hospital since he was put across the Chinese border on July 10. Bishop Walsh, aged 79, was born in Cumberland, Maryland but he has spent 42 years as a missionary in China.
