Apr. 15, 1969 - Scientology Cult May Bid For Lundy Island: Two members of the Scientology cult visited the windswept island of Lundy, . 25 miles off the Devon Coast, and they now recommended that their Organisation put in a bid for the ? 100, 000 island. Mr. Peter Ginever, who was accompanied by the Rev. Alan Ferguson, said that they visualized Lundy as an ideal place on which to build a retreat. They have in mind spending nearly ?300, 000 including the purchase price.Said Mr. Ginever: We would leave the island as it is, except that we would want to build this retreat and possibly improve the landing facilities. The island will not be commercialised in any way. the Scientologists plan to turn Lundy - if they buy it - into a retreat for people who need psychiatric treatment. Photo hows Rev.
