Apr. 15, 1969 - Scientology Cult May Bid For Lundy Island: Two members of the Scientology cult visited the windswept island of Lundy, . 25 miles off the Devon Coast, and they now recommended that their Organisation put in a bid for the ? 100, 000 island. Mr. Peter Ginever, who was accompanied by the Rev. Alan Ferguson, said that they visualized Lundy as an ideal place on which to build a retreat. They have in mind spending nearly ?300, 000 including the purchase price.Said Mr. Ginever: We would leave the island as it is, except that we would want to build this retreat and possibly improve the landing facilities.
