Bicycles - Cycling

Apr. 17 The Gold-Plated Bicycle: Britain, long recognized as a leading manufacturer of bicycles, received an unusual request recently when Mr.and Mrs. Jamindar Das Nundy of Calcutta, India, ordered a gold-plated bicycle as a birthday present for their 18-year-old son, a racing enthusiast. Completely plated, even to the spokes and chain, with 18-carat gold, by the time it reaches Calcutta the bicycle will have cost Mr.Nundy the equivalent of 60. Photo shows Mr.and Mrs.Jamindar Das Nundy examine the gold-plated bicycle at the factory of its manufacturers, the Claude Butler Bicycles Co. of Clapham, London, England
