Billiard table to be sold at Christie's

May 05, 1980 - Billiard table expected to fetch £20, 000: A superb Australian full-size carved blackwood billiard table is up for sale at Christies sale of billiard tables and other sporting equipment today. The carved and panelled frieze depicts scenes of Australian social history including gold prospectors and a man and his horse being attacked by aborigines. Dating from the late 1870s and taking two years to complete the table was once loaned to Buckingham Palace where it was admised by Queen Victoria and used by the Prince of Wales. Photo shows Mrs. Chairman Nausbaum of Auckland, New Zealand the owner of the table, plays her last game of billiards before the sale
