Bishop Desmond Tutu at press conference
Feb. 02, 1984 - Bishop Desmond Tutu, general secretary of the South African council of churches and bishop of Lesotho, held a press conference at the national council of churches headquarters in New York city to defend the South African council of churches against the 451 page Eloff commission report the Eloff commission was appointed by the South African Council of churches. The Report, which was tabled in the South African parliament on February 15th this year, asked that SACC funds be put under government control.
