Nov. 11, 1966 - Campbell uses sandbags on Bluebird. Donald Campbell installed a new engine in his speedboat Bluebird for his attempt to raise his water-speed record to 300 m.p.h. an hour, and found that Bluebird's nose would no longer rise out of the water. - So couple of sandbags were sling across he stern - and proved successful. Campbell cloaked 160 m.p.h. on Conistan water yesterday. before the big day, of course, built in weights will replace the sandbags.
