Nov. 11, 1966 - Donald Campbell in his Bluebird, M.R. Donald Campbell pictured in his speedboat Bluebird on Conistan lake in the Lake District. Mr. Campbell is preparing to attempt to raise the world water speed record, which he set up in Australia two years ago, from 276.33 m.p.h. to over 300 m.p.h. Bluebird is powered by a jet Bristol Siddeley Orpheus engine from a Gnat fighter bought from scrap for ten pounds. One engine was damaged during pre-trial tests and a second engine as at the moment being installed
