Thirty five year old- wealthy businessman Anthony Boydon was to be seen on the Clyde yesterday - during the test of his new 0, 000 racing yacht - Sovereign'- before she is sent to Newport, Rhode Island - if she proves she is capable of beating Sceptre the unsuccessful 1958 challenger for the cup.. Mr. Boydon has so far spent 25, 000 on preparations for the attempt and it will cost him another 25, 000 to get the vessel on the starting line for the much sought after America Cup.. The sovereign was launched 11 days ago - she is 69 ft long; has a waterline length of 49 ft. 6 inc - a beam of 12ft. 3 in. - and a draught of 9 ft..
