In to join the swans on the River Itchen near Southampton, went the 31ft. trimaran Genesis, Mr. Laurie Osborne's home-made entry for the single-handed transatlantic race which starts from Plymouth on June 1st. Mr. Osborne, 33, has worked 18 hours a day for over a year to build his £1, 300 sloop-rigged craft. Friends and neighbours helped with the construction in his back garden in Southampton. he has to make a 500-mile qualifying trip before acceptance for the race
