Jun. 06, 1968 - The Start of the Single Handed Translating Yacht race from Plymouth. 35 Yacht set out from Plymouth yesterday on the 3, 000 mile single handed race across the Atlantic to Newport, Rhode Island. The race started in almost flat Calm and pouring rain. Photo shows Comndt. B.Waquet (France) tries to get his Sloop (Tri) Tamoure moving by using a Sweep soon after the start. In the background is the sloop OPUS, U.K. crewed by bank manager B.T.A Cooke
