Aug. 08, 1969 - The Flying Finn the Powerboat race.: Timo Makinen, the Flying Finn and his co-driver Pascoe Watson, brought Avenger Too home to Portsmouth yesterday in brilliant style, to win the Daily Telegraph and BP round Britain Powerboat Race. They covered the final 118-mile leg from Ramsgaze in 3hrs. 11 mins 24.8 secs, to finish second behind Tim Powell's U.F.O. Makinen and his partner, overall leaders from the sixth stage at Inverness, took the £10, 000 first prize for the shortest elapsed time over the 10-stage. 1, 403-mile course, 2 hours ahead of their nearest rival, UFO whose crew receive £1, 500.
