Dec. 12, 1970 - Sir Francis Prepares For Sailing's 4-Minute Mile'. In the quiet waters of the Beaulieu River at Bucklers Hard, Hants, Sir Francis Chichester, 69, the round-the-world yachtsman, is busy preparing his new Gipsy Moth V for what he calls the four-minute mile of sailing - a voyage averaging 200 miles a day for 4, 000 miles. He plans to sail to Plymouth from where he is to leave the following day for Bissau, Portuguese Guinea, starting point for the 4, 000-mile voyage to Juan Del Norte in Nicaragua. The 29-ton, 57ft stay-sail ketch is 50 percent bigger then her predecessor
