Aug. 08, 1973 - The Thames Oyster smack race.: Seventeen vintage boats, not one of them built in this century, today competed in the Thames Oyster Smack Race, starting from Gravesend and finishing at Cherry Garden Pier, about a mile below Tower Bridge. The race, which is organized by the Fishmonger's Company on behalf of the Shellfish Association, was won by the A.D.C.'.
