Oct. 13, 1978 - Ken is Fastest Afloat: Ken Warby and his patched-up jet hydroplane Spirit of Australia ripped through the world's most feared water speed barriers, or Monday October 9th. On a water surface made to order for record breaking they swept both ways over the measured kilometer course on Blowing Dam, near Tumut Australia, at an average speed of 510.425 km/h (317.186mph) Warby 39. father of three is the first man to break both 300mph and 500 km/h barriers.
