1953 - Last Of The Ancient Tea Clippers - At Greenhithe. The Cutty Sark And The Worcester': The last of the ancient Tea Clippers - the Cutty Sark is moored at Greenhithe alongside the training ship Worcester - for which she has been used as an Overflow vessel. An appeal is being launched by the Cutty Sark Preservation Society for an estimated250, 000 to enable the permanent preservation of the vessel at Greenwich and toe establish a series of Cutty Sark Bursaries to enable young men to be trained and to qualify as officers of the Merchant Navy.
