Nov. 11, 1952 - Norwegian Liner Damaged in Launching Mishap at Southampton. The Norwegian liner Braemar, 5, 000 - tons, after being launched by Mrs. Parqhaurson, wife of Capt. Farquharson, of Invercauld, failed to move, The compressed air buffer was brought into action to move her, but as the ship hit the water the port drag chain snapped. She cereered 400 yards across the River Itchen and ploughed 10ft into a wooden jetty on the opposite bank. Photo shows Francis Farquharson pulls the control of launch vessel.
