Jul. 07, 1953 - Large Scale N.A.T.O. Amphibious exercises Black Wave in Northern Greece: The large scale N.A.T.O. amphibious combined exercises Black Wave has just been completed in Northern Greece, under the personal supervision of General Wyman, commander of Ismyrne Allied H.Q. as well as Chiefs of Greece, Turkey and Italy National Defence General Staffs. Greek, United States, Turkish and Italian Air Force United took part as well as one Greek Infantry Division, a Greek Raiding Force Batallion, a U.S. Marine Bn. and the U.S. 6th Fleet. The purpose of the exercise was to find out the coordination possibilities between NATO forces. Photo shows one of the United States Marine LCVP approaches the coast at the rear of the Enemy
