Aug. 08, 1954 - Four men in a boat return after double crossing of the Atlantic.: The four members of the 62ft. converted lifeboat, Aries three of them Londoners, first adventurers to make a double crossing of the Atlantic in so small a boat withouts sails sailed up the Thames today. In a 45-ton craft, they had crossed the Atlantic twice. Skipper of the Aries was Captain C. Harcourt-Smith, ex-naval officer, of Marble Arch and the other members of the crew were Lieut. Commander Tom Hight, RNVR, 54, of Surbiton, navigator of the boat, Sub-Lieutenant Edwin Skelton, RNVR, 30 of New Malden, radio instuctor to the Kingston Sea Cadets, and David Foden, 18, boat's engineer, whose home is in Cheshire.
