1953 - Fast Patrol boat at Exercise: Her Majesty's Fast Patrol Boat, Gay Bombairdier, first of the Gay Class, built by Messrs Vosper, Ltd. of Portsmouth, was seen at trials today at Gosport. Designed by the Admiralty, these boats can be armed wither as Gun Boats or Torpedo Boats. In the gun role they will mount a 4.5 inch gun and one smaller gun, and in the Torpedo Boat role they will be armed with two 21-inch torpedo tubes and one small gun.
