Dec. 12, 1953 - Dashing Daring: H.M.S. Daring, first of eight Daring class destroyers and the largest in the Royal Navy, has been taking part in maneuvers with the British Mediterrenean Fleet off Malta. Daring has a complement of over 300 men, needed because of the large amount of highly technical equipment she carries. She is of all welded construction, is powered by steam turbines of advanced design and has a displacement of 2, 610 long tons (3, 500 long tons full load).
