Aug. 04, 1954 - Admiralty salvage organisation work on lifting French destroyer in the Clde: The admiralty salvage organisation are now working on what is probably their largest lifting operation they have ever tackled. It is on the French destroyer Maille Breze which sank in the Clyde in 1940 owing to the explosion of her own torpedoes. The lift is one of about 3, 500 tons and is being carried out by two 1, 200 ton and two 750 ton adm iralty lifting craft with thirty six nine inch hawsers under the hull of the vessel. Each hawser is 330 feet in length. Photo shows a diver about to go down fromthe salvage vessel to see what progress had been made during the day - the salvage ship Succour is seen in the background
