Jan. 01, 1955 - TANKER WORLD PEACE WRECKS RAILWAY BRIDGE OVER THE SUEZ CANAL.. The Liberian Tanker WORLD PEACE crashed into the railway bridge which crosses the Suez Canal - at EL FERDAN blocking the canal for many miles. Owners of ships approaching the Canal were requested to slow thear vessels up to ease conapetion until the -ray was cleared.
