May 05, 1956 - German Ambassy payed 1000 Rubel for German fishermen. Two fisherboats from Kiel/Germany were captured by the Soviets off Memel on the coast of East-Prussia. The boats had entered the 12- miles-zone, when they were fishing salmons. The cutters were brought to the harbour Memel. The Soviets were quite friendly and correct but they told the fishermen they would have to pay 1000 Rubels. A cable to the German Ambassy at Moscow was answered that the Ambasy will pay for them. So they came back to Kiel now, where they have to pay the 1000 Rubels in Germany money to the German Foreign Office at Bonn.
