May 05, 1955 - Five warships race to blazing ship. Fire in the North Sea: a navy helicopter today lowered thousands of gallons of foam to the red-hot deck of the London steamer- the 7, 120 ton Maidenhead as she burned in the north-sea. Five Royal Navy Minesweepers stood by and pumped water into the stricken vessel. She was bound for Poland - having left North china on April 5th.
