May 05, 1955 - The Discovery Returns To Victoria Embankment. Becomes A Floating Classroom For R.N.V.R.: Captain Scott's Discovery - the famous vessel which took him on his first South Pole Expedition - returned to the Victoria Embankment this afternoon - after an extensive raft in London Graving Dock. She has been converted into a drill ship for London Division R.N.V.R. Photo shows Tower Bridge can be seen in the background - as the Discovery is towed to the Victoria Embankment this afternoon. She is being towed without rigging and masts - so that she can pass under the bridges without difficulty
