Boats - Sailing - Ships

1957 - The Mayflyer from the Mayflower'..History repeats itself; Preparations are going ahead at Brixhan, Devon to Plymouth Massachusetts - over the route taken by the original vessel with the Pilgrim Fathers aboard in 1620 to found the settlement of Plymouth. The Pilgrim Fathers are regarded as the pioneers of American Colonization. A member of the crew aboard the ship will be Sub-Liet. John Winslow who is a descendant of John Winslow who sailed to the United States in the original ship. Sub. Lieut. Winslow has been granted leave from the Royal Navy and will sail aboard the new ship as an A.B. Mayflower II caused some concern when she was launched at Brixham by her wild swaying from side to side caused by shifting ballast. Now the ship has passed the ministry of transport availability tests. Photo Shows Sub. Lietu. John Winslow takes a dive from the bows of Mayflower II at Brixham Devon whre the ship is being photographed
