1957 - The Mayflower II under sail - at last. The Mayflower II traveled under sail for the first time yesterday - when her skipper - Commander Alan Villiers took her for a three hour trip in Brixham, Devon, bay. The replica of the original Mayflower is expected to leave brixaham today for Plymouth - for start of the journey over the same course to Plymouth, Mass - taken by the famous pilgrim fathers in 1620. photo shows The Mayflower II - under full sail in Brixham harbour yesterday
