1957 - He is to command Mayflower II on her unique journey to the united states. Captain Villiers is to command the Mayflower II - on the unique voyage across the Atlantic to Plymouth, Massachusetts. The vessel has just been completed at Briham - and is as near possible a replica to the original vessel used by the pilgrim fathers in their famous journey of 620 to found the settlement of Plymouth. The pilgrim fathers are regarded as pioneers of American colonisation. The Mayflower II had a decided list when she was towed from dry dockl at Brixham - caused by her ballast having shifted. The ballest was adjusted - and now everything appears to be O.K. for the great day. photo shows Captain Villiers aboard the Mayflower II
