Jan. 01, 1956 - Making New Rigging for Nelson Flagship Victory. A team of men and women have started work at Chatham to make a complete new rigging for Nelson Flagship, Victory. They are working in the same timber built rope walks used by the men who refitted victory for Trafalgar after she had been five years in the Medway as a prison hospital ship. The work is being carried out at Chatham Ropery the Admiralty only rope making establishment. Methods of making the rope are almost the same as in the days of Nelson except that women are employed in some of the operations, now done by machines. OPS: Mr. R. A.
