Jul. 07, 1956 - Ketch that won Torbay-Lisbon Race - goes down. Moyana sinks off coast of Cornwall.: The 103 ton Ketch Moyana - which recently won the Torbay - Lisbon sailing ship race - sank off the coast of Cornwall yesterday during the worse-ever July Gale - that created havoc in all parts of the country. Boys of the Southampton School of Navigation - whose ages average 16 - were taken from the vessel a short time before she sank by the vessel Clan MacLean. No lives were lost.
