May 05, 1957 - First Danish Ship In Iran Straits. Largest Vessel Ever At Port Eilat: The Danish Steamer Brigitte Toft - the largest vessel ever to enter Israel's Red Sea Port Eilat - arrived there yesterday with a full cargo from South and East African ports. No attempt was made to molest her during her voyage through the Straights. The crew saw United Nations tents on the Egyptian side of the gulf. After the cargo has been discharged the vessel is to anchor off Eilat for about twelve days before leaving with 3, 500 tons of Israeli exports. Photo shows The Brigitte Toft in Eilat today
