Jan. 23, 1957 - New 45, 000 Ton Passenger Liner For P.& O. Line Model On Show In London: A model of No. 1621'- the new 45, 000 ton passenger liner ordered by the P. and O. Line for construction by Mesars. Harland and Wolff of Balfast-was on show to the pressat the Company offices in Leadenhall Street this morning. The vessel is intended for the U.K.-Australian trade. Her keel is due to be laid in September and is expected to be delivered towards the end of 1960. She will carry a total complement of 3, 210-and she will have 13 decks and will be air conditioned throughout. She will be equipped with a turbo-electric power plant to develop about 85, 000 shaft horse power. Photo shows.
