Oct. 10, 1957 - The Atom Submarine Sails in - After 14 days under the Ocean.: A worlds-record submarine dive of 14 days 3-1/2 hours was claimed for the United States Navy's atom powered submarine Nautilus by her commander, 36-year old Commander William R. Anderson, when he brought the submarine into Portland, Dorset yesterday. It was the Nautilus's first official visit to a foreign port. During her long spell under water.
