Boats - Sailing - Ships

May 05, 1957 - British Squadron to Visit American Waters. The British Squadron at the International Naval review in Hampton Roads, Virginia, a June 8-17 feature of the Jamestown Festival, will consist of the aircraft carrier H.M.S. Ark Royal. and the two Daring Class ships H.M.S Diamond and Duchess. All three ships are among the newer vessels of the Royal Navy. OPS: H.M.S Duchess (top) and H.M.S Diamond both completed in 1952. Daring Class ships are among the most powerfully armed ships of their size in the world, and although classed as heavy destroyers because of their size (displacement 2, 610 (long) tons) and fire power, can be considered light cruisers
