Jun. 06, 1957 - Flu Ship with British Servicemen and Familes on Board is placed Under Quarantine at Durban.: The 18, 036-ton British troopship Empire Orwell, who is on her way to Britain with 2, 000 troops and 250 women and children, arrived at Durban and was placed under strict quarantine because there several cases of Asian influenza aboard.
