Nov. 11, 1958 - H.M. Submarine Dreadnought: An officially released impression by an Admiralty artist of H.M.S. / Dreadnought, the Royal Navy's first nuclear propelled submarine. The prominent feature of her design is her whale-shaped hull, the near-perfect streamline giving maximum underwater efficiency, while the fin-like conning tower is also aimed at reducing drag to the minimum. The Dreadnought will be capable of continuous high underwater speed and have a long endurance. The Dreadonought's hull will be British built, the main contractors being Vicker-Armstorng (Shipbuilders) Ltd. A contract for the purchase of a nuclear power unit built in the United States is under negotiation at the present time. This drawing is one of three issued by the Admiralty - the others are of a guided missile destroyer and H.M.S. Tiger, the first of the new class of cruisers
