Dec. 12, 1957 - Atomic ice-breaker Lenin launched in Leningrad: The first surface-ship, driven on atomic power, of the world, the 16000 ton large ice-breaker Lenin has been launched yesterday in Leningrad. By soviet statements this ship has a speed of 20 mph and is able to break ice-barriers up to the thickness of two yards. Photo shows the launching at the dockyard of Leningrad
