Jul. 07, 1959 - The first nuclear powered tradeship of the world; will be launched on July 21st at the wharf of the New York Ship building Corporatiion in Camden/New Jersey. The wife of the American president will give the ship the name Savannah'. The Savannah can with a displacement of water of 11 850 tons (21 840 tons when fully loaded) hold 9500 tons of freight and 100 passengers; highest speed; 20 know. The ship is powered by a reactor of pressure water fed with uranium 235.
