Aug. 08, 1958 - Halfbeak is Artic ice field. The United States submarine USS Halfbeak (SS-35) her topside comouflaged with special white paint wends her way through an Arctic Ice field. Operating in Conjunction with the Nuclear Powered submarine USS Skate which reached the North Pole under the Arctic Ice pack on August 11, 1958. The Halfbeak is scheduled to complete her scientific survey operations in the Arctic Ocean later this month
