Aug. 08, 1958 - Britain welcomes the Nautilus as she arrives in Portland Harbour. The United States nuclear-powered submarine Nautilus arrived at Portland Harbour this afternoon, at the end of her voyage which took her under the North Pole. Thousands of holiday-makers cheered and ship sirens sounded a welcome as the submarine approached the harbour.
