Aug. 08, 1958 - THREE MEN IN A BOAT TO DRIFT OVER THE OCEAN. Three men set out from Plymouth in a boat to drift across the Atlantic. In their 18-ton yacht. PETULA they will catch every possible kind of fish expect the really big ones - in the top ten feet of the sea. photograph all the birds they meet. Collect samples of the sea in jars, analyse the air and record the weather. the three-man crew are FRANK Evans, a 27-year-old marine biologist, of Thornton Heath, Surrey, R. H. SHARMA, aged 35, also a marine biologist, a new Zealander, 32-year-old C.N. DICKSON, meteorologist, radio operator and cock. Their first call will be Bakar, in North-West Africa.
