Aug. 08, 1959 - American Atomic Submarine 9 Skipjack arrives at Portland The American atomic submarine Skipjack, was three-hours late today when she arrived at Portland having been held up by strong winds and fog after leaving Londonderry yesterday. On board the submarine was British Commander, B. Samborne, who is to be the first captain of the British atomic submarine, Dreadnought. The Skipjack is America sixth and latest atomic submarine.
