Oct. 10, 1959 - The captain of the wrecked Finnish freighters is taken off his ship by Breeched Buoy: The courageous captain who refused to leave his gale battered ship as she began breaking up on the rocky coast of Aberdeenshire was saved yesterday. He was taken off by breeches buoy after staying alone on the stricken Finnish freighter Anna for 26 hours. Captain Johan Veurio agreed to leave only because he was ordered off by the owners. The Anna, carrying 1, 400 tons of timber, went aground in Monday night's gale. Captain Veurio saw the 17 members of his crew rescued by breeches buoy on Tuesday.
