Oct. 10, 1959 - Giant sausage as freighter: On occasion of the plastic fair, held from 17th till 25th Oct. in Dusseldorf/Germany, this giant will be seen swimming in the Rhine. It is a new swimm-body, a so-called Container of nylon material, shown for the first time at this fair by the Associated Gloss-Material Works (Vereinigte Glanzstoff-Fabriken). The container is to be used mainly for the transport of petrol, oil etc. and can be taken in tow by ships. It is 26 m long and has a diametre of 2, 5 m. photo shows the container inthe Rhine (right)
