Oct. 29, 1959 - Death on the Rocks - The Camera Captures a Doomed Ship's Agony. This was the agony of the Hindlea, a ship murdered by the fury of the gale and the savage rocks on to which she was driven. She met her death on the rugged coast of Anglesey, at Moelfre. The 506tons Hindlea was one of hundreds of little ships pummelled by giant waves during Tuesday's gale. There were eight men aboard her when she began drifting towards the rocks. They owe their lives to the life boatmen of Moelfre, who made ten runs alongside the doomed ship before they got the crew off. It was all in the brave tradition of the sea. And while the Hindlea tore herself to pieces in the rocks, the men who nearly died in her went to a little chapel to sing a hymn of thanksgiving.
