May 05, 1958 - Work Continues On Improving The Suez Canal. Dredger Ramses Refloated: According to El Sayed Mahmud Yunes, Chairman of the Suez Canal Company - the number of vessels passing through the Canal since its Nationalisation has increased by 7.7 p.c. - to the highest figure on record. The Company has an extensive programme for increasing it still more. Many widening and deepening projects are on hand - and it is expected that within two years - ships with a tonnage of 46, 000 will be able to pass through. This is one of the last vessels to be salvaged
