Jul. 07, 1955 - A British submarine, the Thermopylae, has a dome on her bow. First commissioned in 1945, she was recommissioned in 1952 after being lengthened and streamlined and is now used mainly for experimental purposes. In addition to her domed housing at the bow, she has a new type of bridge and conning tower, designed to give added underwater speed
