Boats - Sailing - Ships

Feb. 26 The biggest tanker of the world.. will be launched on Hamburg Howaldt-Werft (ship-building yard) on July 25th, 1953. They are working day and night and still the scaffolding surrounds the tanker which is 236 meters long. You can hardly imagine the size of the ship but you may only see the oversize rudder which weights 32, 000 kilograms and has 27 square meters. The screw may not be fixed in one as it is too heavy, each of the four blades weighs 6.25 tons. 20 1/2 year-old Christine, daughter of the richest ship-builder of the world Aristolteles Onassis, will give the 45, 000 ton ship the name Tina Onassis
